What is the general process from start to finish?
orange The process starts with a visit to discuss your ideas and possible future plans regarding your landscaping. We will come at your convenience, your presence is not required, but would it would be informational and a good time to ask questions. At this time we will measure the lawn and take the water pressure. We will then calculate an estimate based on that information. Depending if you are using town water or well water a couple of steps need to be taken. It needs to be determined if your town allows for town water use for lawn irrigation systems or a well needs to be drilled. If town water is an option a licensed plumber needs to be hired to install a backflow valve. We have a local plumber we do business with regularly and can get the appropriate permits and handle the install. If a water well is needed we have a relationship with several well companies to have estimate prepared for you. If you agree to the estimate, we call “Digsafe” and have the property marked for any wires or cables. There is no cost for this service. We then schedule the install date. After the install is complete we go over the entire system and give you a tutorial. At that time any questions you have can be answered.
What will my lawn look like when you're done?
orange We use a machine called a ditch witch (vibratory plow) to pull the pipe through your lawn. This machine inserts a blade holding one end of the pipe into the lawn and vibrates as the machine drags it forward. The machine leaves a seam in the lawn where the blade has been. We go over the seam with a tamper to level whatever earth has been disturbed by rocks and roots and then seed the disturbed areas. So, we leave little imprint on your lawn. In most cases after a couple of mowing’s the lawn should look great.
What if I want to add to the system after you are done?
We can easliy add heads and zones to your system. However, if you know of these landscape plans or ideas ahead of time feel free to share them with us, but if not, expanding and adding to the system is almost never a problem.
How does the lawnmower work into this?
The heads we install will be flush with the ground and will not disturb lawn mowing.
Is there yearly maintenance needed for my irrigation system?
There are 2 steps needed for the care and maintenance. Spring start-up, at this time we turn the water on to the system and inspect for leaks or breaks. We then run through each zone and adjust each head for optimum coverage. We then set the controller for a spring time watering schedule. We check make sure the rain sensor is in good working order. The controllers are user friendly and can be adjusted for a summer time schedule. If you’re not comfortable with the controller we can perform this for you. The second step is in the fall and we use high pressure high volume air compressors to force the water out of the system and drying the system internally. This is a crucial step in keeping your system in great working condition for many years.
What about scheduling and permitting?
We have a full office staff that takes any concerns from start to resolution. All appointments are coordinated through the office and customers are called with reminders and any follow-up needed.
